Self-Care For the Weekend

Self-care is one of the best things you can do to take care of your mental health and ensure you stay stress-free. It’s also a great way to make yourself feel better when you’ve had a bad day. Self-care is anything that you do that brings you joy and calmness. It’s different for everyone and something that stresses one person out could be another’s calming activity. If you’ve been thinking about making some time for yourself during the day but don’t know where to start or feel like you don’t have time during the week, here are some ideas for you to explore and start small!

  • Go for a hike in the woods

Many people have stated that nature gives off a calming vibe and the woods is a calming atmosphere. Going for a hike is a great way to clear your mind or even give you space and silence to think about something that may be on your mind.

  • Practice yoga

Maybe its time to test your flexibility and take an hour out of your day to try some movement meditation. If yoga wasn’t for you when you were younger, maybe try it out again! There are tons of yogis out there who have found ways to make it more interesting, and let’s not forget about the cute clothes!

  • Treat yourself

Do something nice for you. Go buy something you really want, get yourself that thing that you really need but can’t justify buying it just yet, or go get a message. Even taking yourself out on a date is self-care!

  • Binge watch tv

Lock yourself in your room and binge your favorite tv show or start watching that one you’ve been eyeing in your recommended section. For some people, not doing anything is the perfect time to recharge. I know it is for me.

  • Take a bath

Candles, soothing music or sounds, and bubbles sounds like a perfect way to unwind for me! Tip: try Netflixing while in the tub!

  • Journaling

Getting your thoughts out on paper can be such an empowering and emotional experience. Some people find introspection in journaling and love it immensely.

  •   Declutter/Organize

For some people, cleaning out their space is equivalent to cleaning out their mind and gives them something else to focus on. The same goes for organizing.

  • Find games to play

I am a huge fan of the free games section on the app store. I love downloading games that look interesting and trying them all in huge clumps when I need a distraction. Some of them even become my favorites!
